Our college student needed to store his furniture for the summer move out/ move in time. Tracey, the onsite manager was wonderful & easy to work with. The storage area itself was clean and well secure! Not just locking our unit, but the security to get thru the gate. We will definitely use them again if needed. Highly recommend!

Facility is clean and well managed. Very close to Mizzou. Great place for students to place their stuff for the summer.

She’s a great person! Super friendly. She will take good care of you if you buy from here!

I was having issues trying to pay online and so called their afterhours customer service provider was terrible. They claimed I owed three times more than I did. Having rented from the location for 22 years, I was very frustrated. So I wrote a scathing review here. Very soon after that one of the owners called and explained the hiccups they were having with recent updates to the online payment system. I work in IT, so I totally understood. They also expressed much dissatisfaction with the afterhours customer service provider they had hired. They then provided a way to pay my bill and even gave me a discount to compensate for my time and stress. This facility is clean, easy to access, at a good location (especially for students), family-owned and highly secure. But most importantly, the owners are responsive to their customer's concerns and are striving to provide the best storage facility they can.

I have never seen such a well kept well secured facility like this one! Friendly staff and great location!

10/10 would use this storage again. Great for college students. Really well managed.

As a customer for two full years, I can't say enough about how nice the owners are. Friendly and courteous. I moved my stuff out three months after paying for six months and they gave me a refund for the unused time without any questions or even a walk through inspection. I'm glad I found this storage unit place and highly recommend to anyone needing a storage unit.

Plenty of space and things are generally in good condition however the hallways have no fans or air flow whatsoever so it becomes unbearably hot in the summer. I needed to go to the bathroom and intended on asking the manager but she was on a phone conversation for the longest time. There was no sign that indicated that there was a bathroom so I went across the road to go to the bathroom. Manager told me there was a barhroom after I told her where I went. The fence gates could be more secure as people could easily jump over them if they wanted to. There is no barbed wire to keep people from coming in easily.

I suspect all the reviews listed are fake reviews, or were left by renters from the previous owners. Gateway Storage recently purchased Columbia storage, and increased rental fees about 65 percent. There is never anybody in the office under the new management, only a telephone number. I have left numerous messages asking for a callback, but never received a call. They send out emails from a do not reply email address. There seems to be no way to contact Gateway. Now they propose to charge an extra $12 per month for rental insurance, but there appears to be no way to tell them that I already have renters insurance.

Such a hassle and you would do better finding a more honest business. Our Mizzou students kept their things here in between apartment contracts for a little over 3 weeks. We called to let management know after our complete move out on August 18 as there was no one in the office. Spoke directly with Lauren who said she would check the empty, swept out unit and cancel the automatic withdrawl on my credit card. There is a camera in the hall that would show 4 of us moving out and I took a time stamped picture of empty, clean unit as well. I was surprised to find a charge for Sept.when I'd already paid for August. Again talked to Lauren and she reversed the charge and told us she removed my card from automatic draft. This didn't happen as my card was debited AGAIN on Oct 1 with erroneous late charges. I spent hours trying to rectify the situation and if I could get a hold of someone was told they needed to talk to "management" but no one would call back or even listen. Their "recorded lines" show we were told by Lauren that everything was resolved. I had initially been happy with the place but now just feel duped. Please save yourself the trouble.
